Effective January 1, 2025, Chiquita Canyon Landfill will be closed for the acceptance of waste. Chiquita Canyon, LLC will continue to manage the landfill, including addressing the elevated temperature landfill event that is affecting the northwest corner of the landfill, as well as closure and post-closure activities. While active waste disposal operations will close, we remain committed to working with federal, state and local regulators on the ongoing reaction mitigation efforts.

Free Disposal Day Rescheduled to March 9th

Due to an anticipated rain event on Saturday, March 2, the first quarter Free Disposal Day has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 9, 2024. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Chiquita Canyon provides quarterly Free Disposal Days for residents of Val Verde and Castaic. Free Disposal Days are coordinated with the Chiquita Canyon Landfill Community Advisory Committee (CCLCAC). Val Verde and Castaic residents are able to dispose of waste at no charge by showing proof of residency.
