Chiquita Canyon has a recycling awareness and education program for the residents of the Santa Clarita Valley. “Chiquita Canyon is available to help residents of our Valley to properly recycle certain items,” stated Steve Cassulo, District Manager of Chiquita Canyon. “Residents can find more information about our recycling services at our local libraries or visiting our webpage.”

Permitted for more than 50 years, Chiquita Canyon is a regional landfill that provides the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding Los Angeles communities with environmentally safe and efficient waste disposal services. Chiquita Canyon is located in Castaic, California, approximately 3 miles west of the Interstate 5 on State Route 126 in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Chiquita Canyon, like other solid waste landfills, over time generates gases which are safely converted into a valuable source of clean energy. Chiquita deploys a state-of-the-art gas recovery system to collect and convert the gas, generating clean energy for 10,000 homes.

CHIQUITA CANYON CONTINUES RECYCLING AND EDUCATION PROGRAM IN 2019

Chiquita Canyon is continuing outreach efforts to educate Santa Clarita Valley residents of their recycling program.

 Castaic, Calif. (January 7, 2019) – Chiquita Canyon Landfill continues their public awareness and education recycling program to inform residents what items they may discard at Chiquita Canyon Landfill to be recycled. Chiquita Canyon currently will receive electronic waste, household hazardous waste, white goods, and metal.

“We are very pleased to continue our recycling program for residents of our Valley,” stated Steve Cassulo, District Manager for Chiquita Canyon. “As always, we want to show Santa Clarita that we are a good neighbor and allowing residents of our Valley to recycle their items shows just that.”

Chiquita Canyon has been working with the County of Los Angeles to help make not just the County, but the Santa Clarita Valley a more sustainable, cleaner, and healthier Valley. Chiquita Canyon has been advertising in the local paper as well as with social media posts on their outlets, informing residents of the recycling program.

CHIQUITA CANYON SUCCESSFULLY IMPLEMENTS THEIR FIRST RECYCLING AND EDUCATION PROGRAM IN 2018

 At the beginning of the year, Chiquita Canyon implemented a successful recycling public awareness and education program for Santa Clarita Valley residents.

 Castaic, Calif. (December 17, 2018) – To comply with their Conditional Use Permit, Chiquita Canyon Landfill implemented a recycling public awareness and education program for residents of the Santa Clarita Valley. With their mission to strive for a cleaner and healthier Santa Clarita Valley, Chiquita Canyon assisted the public with properly recycling materials.

“We are very excited to be closing out a successful year, specifically with our recycling program that we started just 12 months ago,” stated Steve Cassulo, District Manager for Chiquita Canyon. “As we’ve mentioned, we wanted to show the residents of Santa Clarita that we are a good neighbor and the turnout that we received throughout the year with community members bringing their items showed just that.”

Chiquita Canyon accepted recycling for mattresses, electronic waste, household hazardous waste, white goods, and metal. Chiquita created a page on their website that gave residents information on what could be recycled and how to go about bringing their items to the facility.

Furthermore, Chiquita Canyon provided resources to recycle plastic bags, mobile devices, and clothing as well as Los Angeles County’s household hazardous waste and e-waste schedule.
