CHIQUITA CANYON HIGHLIGHTS THEIR RECYCLING ACTIVITIES
Chiquita Canyon implements a comprehensive public awareness and education program informing Santa Clarita Valley residents of the Facility’s recycling activities and programs.
Castaic, Calif. (January 4, 2018) – Chiquita Canyon Landfill has begun a comprehensive public awareness and education program for Santa Clarita Valley residents. The program is intended to inform residents what items they may discard at Chiquita Canyon Landfill to be recycled. Chiquita Canyon currently will receive electronic waste, household hazardous waste, white goods, and metal.
“With the approval of our new Conditional Use Permit, we plan to continue being a supportive neighbor for the Santa Clarita Valley and its residents,” stated Steve Cassulo, District Manager for Chiquita Canyon. “Our education program will assist our Valley to becoming that much more environmentally friendly and sustainable.”
The website also gives information for other recycling services across the Santa Clarita Valley, including where to recycle household hazardous waste/e-waste, plastic bag recycling, mobile device recycling, and clothing recycle.

Chiquita Canyon, like other solid waste landfills, over time generates gases which are safely converted into a valuable source of clean energy. Chiquita deploys a state-of-the-art gas recovery system to collect and convert the gas, generating clean energy for 10,000 homes.
